The clip itself is a little long, but totally worth watching from start to finish, so, I’ll save the good stuff for the video. All you need to know is that just before losing her battle with Ovarian Cancer in 2011, Brenda Schmitz gave one of her friends a letter and made her promise to deliver it to the local radio station’s Christmas Wishes program only after her husband fell in love with someone else.
Two years later, the radio station got the letter and invited the stunned widower down to the station to read it to him and tell him the story of his late wife’s dying Christmas Wish for the family and husband she left behind. So, click on the YouTube link below and prepare to be terribly moved. Seriously, I don’t even know how the DJ finished reading the entire letter. This one is a real tearjerker!
But, for better or worse, every year at this time I get tons of comments from people who somehow think that I am the one granting Christmas wishes on KOST 103.5 FM. Oh, if I only could, my friends, I would, but, I was simply blogging about how much I loved KOST’s all-Christmas music format. That’s all. And, by the way, I still love it. So does Greta!
Anyway, the comments have been flowing in to our poor, abandoned sister blog Make.See.Eat.Do. again this year, so, I wanted to be sure and share this strange phenomenon with you all as well. The funny thing is that most of these people don’t even leave a contact number for me to reach them at, so, I don’t know how they expect to get the wishes they asked for, you know, actually granted. I guess they’re relying on the magic of Christmas. Either way, if anyone reading wants to answer some of these often very sad email pleas for wish granting, let me know…
In the meantime, I hope your holidays are going well. I’m slammed with work at the moment, but, will re-emerge from my shell soon. Until then, follow the link (included again below) to the original story and make sure and read all the crazy comments!
