Christmas presents wrapped: check

Urgh, what a day. Greta was kinda sluggish and tired all day, no fever or anything, just a general blah-ness I guess. Anyway, she skipped her nap and then fell into a deep, deep sleep right before we ate dinner. Mrs. Yeti and I decided she needed the sleep and figured she’d probably sleep through the night…but, guess what happened? Yep, you got it. She woke up four hours later and proclaimed herself “healed”. Yes, she actually said that, it was hilarious.

So, seeing as it was well after midnight, guess who got to stay up with the newly healed patient? Right again! Honestly, it was no big deal and it was kinda fun to hang with her since she’d been so blah all day, but the best news of all is that we spent our time together wrapping the bulk of our Christmas presents. Meaning, most of the bigger boxes and all of the stuff we bought Mrs. Yeti. So, hooray for us, our beautiful little tree actually has presents under it!

Now, if I could just get those damned Christmas cards started all would be right with the world…

Super Thursday!

Yay, we actually beat the Thursday curse today! That’s right, I didn’t think about the way I was heartlessly dumped by my Meetup group once today. Well, OK, maybe I did, you know…once or twice. But, the good news is I didn’t dwell on it…so, yay for moving on!

Beat the heat this morning watching “Aladdin” (again!), Greta and I had an epic pillow fight/M&M party in the bedroom, got in some quality park time in the afternoon, and actually ate a freaking salad for lunch. Either I am totally turning into a woman, or Thursdays are back on track, baby!

Yee-haw!

Daddy’s magic mirror…

Do you ever just glance in that tiny, kiddie rearview mirror you have hanging below the main one and just think…wow, who is that amazing creature in my backseat? I do it a lot. You know, when I’m not thinking: “When is she gonna shut up so I can hear my Dr. Laura?!” Just kidding.

But I do love looking in that little rearview mirror and watching Greta just be Greta, especially when she doesn’t know I’m watching. The way she’ll chat up her dolls, or flip through a library book or even just sit there and sing with all the windows down and the crazy wind in her hair. It’s so magical and at the same time, I know that it’s so fleeting too. I mean, that little mirror isn’t gonna be around forever, and, hell, neither is the carseat for that matter.

The next thing you know Greta will be sitting next to me up front and asking to drive and borrow the car on weekends and shit. Crazy! But for now, I have my little mirror, my little window into her backseat world and I gotta admit, I love it…even when she’s interrupting Dr. Laura.
